Australian Telescope Searches Sky For Extraterrestrials

The 210 foot Parkes radio telescope in New South Wales, Australia, has been pointed towards Proxima Centauri--a star thought to harbor an earth-like planet that may be suitable for life. The exoplanet Proxima B was discovered this August, and is the closest planet to its sun.  Scientists hope to use the giant telescope to scan for radio signals that might indicate the presence of an extraterrestrial civilization.
