Paranormal Pop Culture: The Mothman Prophecies by John A. Keel

The Mothman Prophecies by John A. Keel is the seminal work on the Mothman sightings that occurred in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, from 1966 to 1967.  Keel’s work in the book covers more than just strange creature sightings, as residents reported UFOs, Men in Black, and various other supernatural phenomena.  The author himself became embroiled in the strange goings-on, and received prophetic messages from an unknown entity; culminating in Keel preparing for a widespread blackout based on these weird warnings.  The blackout never happened, but around the same time as that disaster was purportedly to occur, on December 15th, 1976, the Silver Bridge spanning the Ohio River outside of Point Pleasant collapsed, killing dozens.
