Ghost Hunters Share 'Paranormal' Evidence Captured on Camera at Churches in Cornwall, England

Two teams of ghost hunters shared images with Cornwall Live this month that appear to show ghostly figures captured on camera at separate churches in Cornwall, England.

The first such group, Pengegers Paranormal Pansy’s—a paranormal team out of Camborne featuring members Mark Earl, William Ives, and Ollie Earl—were live streaming last September at St. Day's Church, near Redruth, when they said their viewers spotted a strange figure in the window that the team believes couldn't be a living human.

A still image from that video was then published to Cornwall Live.

The figure is first seen at approximately 7:05 into the video and seems to disappear after a second flashlight is shone directly onto the window.

“There’s no inside for the Church. It’s all been stripped out. As we were walking down, on the live stream you can see the outline of a girl in the window," Earl said. "Our viewers said the same—that it’s a little girl. It’s shaken us up a bit, we’re not the type to make things up. We’ll say it’s nothing if we investigate somewhere and it’s nothing. We just want to speak the truth about a situation. If you don’t believe us, just open up, open yourself up, if you don’t believe it just try it yourself.”

The Singular Fortean Society asked photo and video analyst Emily Wayland what she thought of the video.

“It seems like the figure is really just light from the flashlight reflecting on the wall behind the window. That’s why it disappears when the second light is focused on it,” Wayland said. “You can even see how the windowpane’s shadow from the more focused light continues into the ‘ghost’ standing there, because they’re both created by light shining through the window.”

The second photograph was reportedly taken at St. Gluvias’ Church in Penryn by the Cornish Ghost Whispers, a paranormal group out of Falmouth led by Candice Collins, along with her partner Nick Pierce and mother Susanne.

“We went there because of a few pirate graves, and that it’s supposed to be haunted by an old bell ringer. It’s supposedly someone who lost their life at sea and comes back to ring the church bell," Collins said. “We were just doing some normal paranormal photography when we put the cameras into the chapel, took a few. A few months later mum and I were looking back over, and we see this weird face just there.”

Collins added that she didn't recognize the face but was certain it was that of a woman. This ruled out the bell ringer as a suspect, she said, because that ghost is a man.

“We also heard some whispering and footsteps [while at the church],” she said of the team’s investigation. “We had the feeling we were being followed around.”

Again, Wayland was asked for her thoughts on the paranormal evidence.

“I would guess that this shot was taken through a window at night. You can see what looks like the reflection from some light—maybe a camera flash or flashlight—to the left and then the face is to the right. This could easily be the reflection of someone physically present when the photo was taken,” she said of the ghostly photograph. “It’s not a clear reflection by any means, so I understand why they wouldn’t recognize the face.”

“At least that is my best guess without seeing the original photograph,” she added.
