The isolated farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island responsible for inspiring popular horror movie The Conjuring has been listed for sale by The Blackstone Team, a member of Mott & Chace Sotheby's International Realty.

Asking price for the property is $1.2 million.

The house, known as the “Old Brook Farm” or “Old Arnold Estate”, was built in 1736 on 200 acres of farmland and owned by the Arnold family for eight generations. A number of tragedies occurred on the property in that time, and it is the ghosts associated with those events who are said to haunt the house.

The Perron family bought the home in 1971. After experiencing a variety of terrifying paranormal phenomena, they were assisted by (in)famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren; these events would form the basis of the movie The Conjuring. The property was then purchased by Norma Sutcliffe in 1983. She, along with her companion Gerry Helfrich, claimed to have also experienced the unexplained during their habitation.

From there, it was sold to Cory and Jennifer Heinzen for $439,000 in June of 2019.

Cory has been a paranormal investigator for around a decade, and the couple have claimed to experience paranormal activity in the home.

Previous owner Norma Sutcliffe sued Warner Bros. following The Conjuring, having said that "Ever since the movie came out, we’ve been harassed, trespassed, stalked, and besieged. [Trespassers] come at all times of the day."

Cory and Jennifer Heinzen , however, seem to enjoy the attention, even running a business booking overnight guests and group events on the property.

In a press release, the listing agent emphasized the house’s paranormal reputation.

Every so often an opportunity presents itself to possess an extraordinary piece of cultural history. The true story of ‘The Conjuring’ started in this very house, in Harrisville, RI. The critically acclaimed original movie was based on accounts taken from inhabitants of this fourteen-room farmhouse.

Rumored to be haunted by the presence of Bathsheba Sherman, who in the 1800’s lived in the house, 1677 Round Top Road is one of the most well-known haunted houses in the United States. The chilling stories from this house have inspired dozens of books and movies.

Many qualified paranormal researchers have been invited into the home - most famously Ed and Lorraine Warren, who founded the oldest ghost hunting team in New England, and in the 1970’s were hired to rid the home of its evil. The Warrens confirmed that the events depicted in The Conjuring movies (the third just recently released) actually transpired.

The current caretakers have reported countless happenings in the house, and have turned overnight guest bookings and group events on the property into a steady successful business.

Currently, the house is listed as being under contract, meaning an offer has been accepted but the sale is not yet complete.

The potential buyer is not yet known, but that information should become available once the sale is finalized.
