The Singular Fortean Society received the following email on April 9th, 2020.

I live in Fredericktown, Missouri. My boyfriend, my mother, and I saw a creature with glowing red eyes on our property one late night/early morning. We do not know what it was—considering I'm 42, my boyfriend is 41, and my mother is 61—and none of us have ever seen or know of any animal or creature that has eyes such as the thing that we saw that night. We didn't see the body due to the fact it was too dark outside, except for the light from the moon shining down. All I could see was a silhouette of what appeared to me to be the shape and height of a cow and its bright red—like a red laser light—glowing eyes. I know it sounds crazy, and if I didn't have two other witnesses I probably wouldn't tell anyone for the fear of someone thinking I done lost my mind, but it's real and it's out there. I'm not asking anyone to believe me, I'm telling you what we saw and it's out there so beware. It didn't appear to be aggressive but we didn't try to go after it either, so I don't know.

Lead investigator Tobias Wayland scheduled a phone interview with the witness, but his call went unanswered and he was unable to leave a voicemail. A subsequent email asking to reschedule received no response.

Red eyes have been associated with a multitude of monster sightings over the years—from bigfoot to mothman to certain faeries, and many more.

While often these beings are bipedal, that’s not always the case. For instance, there is said to be a pooka in County Roscommon, Ireland, that appears as a large, black goat with curling horns and gleaming red eyes.

Whether the creature described in the above report is bipedal or quadrupedal—or something else entirely—remains unknown.

Reports from the Void is a repository to share those stories for which we do not have enough information to make a full report. This is usually because of little or no communication from the witness following their initial submission. The Singular Fortean Society will always provide as much information as possible regarding any correspondence during our attempts to speak with those involved.

This series is meant only to present you with the full breadth of the information sent to us, and makes no judgments towards the veracity of any stories shared within it.
