Michigan Couple Capture Ghost on Nanny Cam Following Incident of Mysterious Scratches Appearing on Daughter's Face
A Michigan couple recently captured on video what they believe to be the ghost that has been terrorizing their household for weeks, according to WXYZ.
Heather Brough, 25, and Joshua Higgins, 30, of Highland, Michigan, decided to check their nanny cam footage after scratches were found on their daughter Lily's face. Brough had woken Lily up from a nap when she noticed the scratches.
“Seeing Lily’s face with the scratches was so bizarre and frightening,” Brough said. “I was crying, ‘What happened to you?’ I grabbed her jacket and ran over to my mother-in-law’s house. Nobody knew what happened. We wondered if she’d scratched herself, but when we put her hands up to the scratches it did not match up.”
Then, a few weeks ago, Brough noticed what appeared to be a ghostly figure moving behind Lily’s playpen as she stands up, watching it pass.
"It’s almost like she sees something that we don’t," said Brough.
"It was chilling," Higgins said. "It was literally a chill down your spin, like that 'what if' factor—Is this what I just saw?"
"I freaked out," Brough added. "I stopped what I was doing and I ran upstairs and grabbed my daughter."
This isn't the first paranormal incident to occur in the home, nor were the scratches on Lily's face the only incident of physical violence the family has experienced at the hands of this haunting. Brough has heard footsteps going up and down the stairs as she took a shower, and an "angry male voice" screaming and laughing.
“It scares us that it could do something else,” Brough. “I mean, there was a morning I woke up and I felt like someone’s hands were around my neck.”
Brough, Higgins, and Lily live in a guest house owned by Higgins’ mother, Kris, who lives in the main house. Kris said the guest house was built for the former owner’s mentally ill brother.
“I was told when we bought the houses 11 years ago the lady who owned the property died in the main house. It’s an old farmhouse and according to her niece…she fell down the stairs, broke her hips and laid there for a very long time before she passed away,” Kris said. “She said that the guesthouse was built for the lady’s brother who was schizophrenic.”
"The gentleman that lived here originally committed suicide apparently by jumping out this window, which is one story down," recounted Higgins' father, Jim.
The couple have brought in a team of paranormal investigators to help while they examine their options.
"It’s not physically just going after her, it feels like it’s going after myself too," Brough said. “This has made us want to leave as soon as possible. As soon as possible we’re out of here. This is a spirit. I don’t know what its intentions are, but at this point it’s becoming physically harmful.”
"I couldn’t get an explanation out of it so it’s freaky is what it is," said Higgins.
For now, the family is staying together in a single room in the house until they save enough money to leave.
