Witness Recounts 2007 Sighting of Flying Humanoid with 'Glowing Yellowish Eyes' at Prairie Creek Reservoir in Indiana.

Lon Strickler of Phantoms and Monsters received a report recently from a witness who claimed to have seen a flying humanoid with “glowing yellow-ish eyes” while on a boat at the Prairie Creek Reservoir in 2007.

My mom sent me your article because I have also seen the humanoid at Prairie Creek Reservoir! I am originally from Muncie, IN and grew up spending a lot of time at Prairie Creek because my family has a boat there.

It was summer 2007 when we had taken a boat ride and watched the sunset. It was dusk and the sun was setting as we approached our dock. As we got closer my friend and I both saw what looked like a human standing at the end of our dock and thought it was strange because there was no one else around —our neighboring boats were all docked, there were no other cars around, etc. We were the only one out that evening from our dock area. It then turned around and we saw its glowing yellow-ish eyes. At this point, we were freaked out wondering what this was because there was something totally off about it and it was clearly not a normal human. Then, as we got even closer, it spread its wings, flapped a few times and soared up into the sky. It was WAY too big to be a bird...I've never seen anything like it before or after. It was probably around 5-6 feet tall and really dark, the whole body and wings were gray/black.

Not sure if this is of interest but my family and I also saw a UFO at Prairie Creek Reservoir around dusk as well a few years later. We were one of the only boats on the water, it was such a serene, quiet and peaceful evening. My mother looked up at the sky and saw the UFO so we all looked up, it was shaped like a tin can, stayed still and made absolutely no noise. At that instant, my father caught a fish and the commotion caused us all to look down and a few seconds later when we looked back up it was gone without a trace.

"The eyewitness is a known credible media professional," said Strickler of the person from whom he received the account.

The Singular Fortean Society has verified the identity of the witness, but will not disclose further information for privacy reasons.

The eye color described by this witness is very similar to that reportedly seen in the same area by another witness in 2011—in that case, the creature’s eyes were said to be “greenish yellowish-like.” The gray or black coloring of the creature’s body in this report is also consistent across the board with other reports.

The Prairie Creek Reservoir is around two miles southeast of Muncie, Indiana, and approximately 140 miles southeast of Lake Michigan. Less than five miles to its south is Summit Lake State Park. Gary, Indiana—a city on the southern shore of Lake Michigan—has seen a recent spate of flying creature reports, and is the same distance from this sighting location as the great lake, ~140 miles.

This is the latest in a string of flying creature sightings around Lake Michigan that ostensibly began in the spring of 2017, but more historical accounts are being reported as more people become aware of the phenomenon.  Most of the sightings have taken place near the lakefront in Chicago within a few miles of Lake Michigan, although increasingly reports are coming from within a few hundred mile radius surrounding the great lake—including every state bordering it.  The sightings generally take place in the evening or at night, often in or near a park, and around water.  Witnesses consistently describe a large, gray-or-black bat or bird-like creature—although in a small number of cases the creature was described as insect-like—sometimes with glowing or reflective red, yellow, or orange eyes; and humanoid features such as arms and legs are often reported.  Many of the sightings are also of something seen only briefly or are described only as a flying creature with few details, which leaves open the possibility that a large bird or bird-like being could explain some encounters.
