Ice Serpent Spotted in Alaska

On October 18th, the Bureau of Land Management-Fairbanks' District Office Public Affairs Specialist Craig McCaa was standing on the University Bridge overlooking the Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska, when he spotted what appeared to be a large, ice-covered creature swimming against the current.  Speculated explanations for the sighting include a large serpent or sturgeon, with biologist Klaus Wuttig explaining that he believes the mystery creature is simply an icy rope tethered to the bridge, and that it merely "looks like it is swimming but it’s actually stationary and just wading in the current."
