Reports from the Void: 'Humanoid Bat'

The Singular Fortean Society received the following email with “Humanoid Bat” in the subject line on July 1st, 2022.

Wow, I have goosebumps right now. I've recently took an interest into the 411 reports: unexplainable, mystery [stuff]. I'm starting to realize all the paranormal is connected—bigfoots, UFOs, hauntings even. Unfortunately, I've only experienced one unexplainable event, and it still puts shivers down my spine. I will write it into story form soon but for now long story short.

Me and a friend both seen it. Clear as day, 10 feet in front of my headlights. Moon was full, too. It looked humanlike but mixed with bat gargoyle. [I don't know what] to say or think. [It] was about our height but the wings were pterodactyl-like.

This thing could be [the] sole reason why people go "magically missing."

I'm a skeptic at heart, but I'm more than open-minded today. I research as a skeptic, but I know with all my heart that there is a creature out there that doesn't exist to 99% of the world.

Investigator Tobias Wayland replied to the email in an attempt to interview its author but received no response.

“411” refers to Missing 411, which is the work done by researcher David Paulides regarding various deaths and disappearances on federal land—most notably, in national parks. Paulides’ research has led to a number of speculations as to the nature of the disappearances, including everything from interdimensional portals to bigfoot attacks. These speculations are not without controversy, since those skeptical of them posit that the disappearances are easily explained by natural means.

The creature described above is consistent with several reported sightings of winged humanoids in the states surrounding Lake Michigan, although it is unclear where this witness’s sighting took place.

Reports from the Void is a repository to share those stories for which we do not have enough information to make a full report. This is usually because of little or no communication from the witness following their initial submission. The Singular Fortean Society will always provide as much information as possible regarding any correspondence during our attempts to speak with those involved.

This series is meant only to present you with the full breadth of the information sent to us, and makes no judgments towards the veracity of any stories shared within it.
