Paranormal Art Portal:

Koko VanBoxtel

High strangeness and the paranormal has always interested me. A lot of that I credit to my parents for always being so open-minded. Growing up, they (knowingly or not) instilled in me that anything was possible.

As an adult, my mind has become even more open thanks to not only what I have read over the years, but the unusual experiences and synchronicities I have personally experienced. I am a firm believer there is much more to reality that what we experience in this physical world.

My inspiration for turning high strangeness into miniature worlds was simply because I had never seen dioramas based on this subject matter (of which I love).

I was aware of dioramas that were made around crime scenes and the like, and then the thought occurred to me that it would be pretty cool to make my own dioramas, based around cryptids and other high strangeness. It was like a lightbulb moment. A lot of what I read, listen to, and watch is based around all things strange. So to bring myself directly into miniature worlds of “strange” (by creating them myself) was a really exciting thought.

That thought was the spark. Soon after, I slowly started teaching myself how to make dioramas. I have been making them for just under four years now, but didn’t start selling them until I created my business, Strange Little Lands, in 2019. The rest is history!”
