Bowled Over Birds Stump Scientists

As many as 40 grackles were found dead recently in the city of Dorchester, Massachusetts.  According to local resident Shelora Levaud, members of the fallen flock who were not dead were lethargic and appeared "almost like one side was paralyzed."  Scientists are unsure what might have caused the tragedy, but speculate that a disease, environmental toxin, or man made poison might be responsible.  What do you think?  Is this a natural occurrence, or is mankind guilty of murdering grackles?
